So last Sunday saw some of us WeBloggers come together for an awesome blog photography workshop, hosted by the wonderful Georgie Glass.
Georgie is a professional photographer, specialising in food photography and her clients include many of the wonderful restaurants in Manchester, as well as Manchester Confidential. Basically, she’s bad ass at taking photos! She, alongside her friend Kate, has also recently started a blog, Ginseng & Thyme, which instantly gave us all photo-lust and envy (we’re happy for you really Georgie!).
We all want our blog photography to be the best it can be and strive to get those enviable instagrammable images don’t we? And we all have equipment like DSLRs that we don’t really know how to use, don’t we? Well, Georgie led a 5 hour workshop that taught us how to get off auto and finally achieve the sorts of photos we can be proud of…

WE HOPE THAT EVERYONE IN THIS NETWORK AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE SAFE AFTER MONDAY’S ATROCITIES AND OUR THOUGHTS AND HEARTS GO OUT TO THOSE THAT HAVE SUFFERED AS A RESULT OF IT.
But one thing that I think we’ve all taken from Monday’s horrendous act of evil, is that we live in an amazing city, with such a strong sense of community.
There is so much kind out there and so much good and that has become so apparent after Monday’s events. I know it gives me hope in such a dreadful time.
With community in mind, we come back to a community that we’ve built. A community of bloggers, of vloggers, of content creators. Of creative, talented people, based here in Greater Manchester and even wider.
I think about friends that I’ve made through this community, how I’ve grown being part of this community and how I hope we can always continue to provide that for others.
I am proud to call Manchester my home and I’m proud to know all of you, even if it’s only in a small way or on this crazy thing that we call “social media”.
But we are still here, we are the lucky ones. We are the ones that can stand united, in love, in support and in community.
We love you guys and we look forward to growing together.
So most of us write or create content – whether it’s blog, vlog or on social media. But do we all share it enough? Do we make sure our sh*t is actually seen?
Some of you may be saying “hell yeah I do! I always automatically tweet my insta posts or tweet the link to my latest blog”…and that’s great! But tweeting a sole link isn’t always the most engaging thing you’ve ever seen is it? Yes it’s quick and it’s out there, but how many links do you click on that aren’t accompanied by an image, gif or video? Not many I bet…
So how can we make our social media posts more engaging?
Here’s 5 ways…
